Hi! I’m Sarah and I bet you’re wondering what a Postpartum Doula is…
What is a Doula?
The word ‘doula’ — pronounced ‘doo-la’ — is a Greek word meaning ‘woman servant or caregiver’. A postpartum doula is the modern version of the community or village of women who support one another in their time after birth.
As a trained postpartum doula, I support families in a non-judgemental way during the postpartum period. I offer hands-on guidance with your baby, (or babies), help with breastfeeding, baby wearing assistance. I offer emotional support as the mother heals from her birth experience. sibling support and practical support including organizing the home, doing errands and meal preparation and light housework.
My goal is to build your confidence and help you create a sustainable routine that you are able to carry out with ease once our time together has ended.
I do not diagnose or give medical advice nor do I replace a medical professional. I do not perform medical procedures or administer medication.
